This is not Twain’s first time helping hopefuls chasing a recording contact. Billboard’s 2016 Women of Music Icon recipient previously advised contestants on long-running reality series American Idol.
The Canadian songstress is currently gearing up to release her first album in 15 years and the first since her diagnosis with dysphonia. To this day, she still holds the title as best-selling female country artist of all time despite a hiatus since her 2002 LP Up.
“By the end [of the recording process of her latest project], I felt like I had climbed a huge mountain and was standing on top of it, looking God in the eye and saying, ‘I’m here! What do I gotta do next?’,” Twain spilled to Entertainment Weekly in December.
The singer has been working in the studio with Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran, One Direction), Ron Aniello (Bruce Springsteen), Jacquire King (Kings of Leon), and songwriter-producer Matthew Koma to put the finishing touches on her highly anticipated record that is due out late spring.
On Monday, April 17 and Tuesday, April 18, the remaining Voice contestants will sing for a place in the Top 12 during live playoffs. Real-time voting will be available on show’s official app, as well as Twitter.
