Eva Medes is visiting her grandmother in her swimsuit. In a new social media post the actress shows off her incredible body in a bathing suit top and sense of humor while riding a stair lift up and down. "Having a Malta at Mami's 🇨🇺♥️🇺🇸 Oh and the band-aid, I fell off a bike and into a bush, scrapped my knee among other things," she captioned the Instagram video. How does the actress and mother of two approach health and wellness? Celebwell rounded up her top lifestyle habits.
Eva detailed her protein-centric diet to Shape in 2017. "I mostly keep it simple and have scrambled eggs and a piece of Ezekiel toast," she said about her breakfast. "I find that when I start out with the right source of protein, it definitely helps." For lunch and dinner she pairs a protein, like salmon, with rice or quinoa and a side salad. "I'm a creature of habit that way," she said. "I don't get bored with food. I try to think about it as fuel for my body."
Mendes tries to hit the gym three times a week. However, if she is prepping for a role she will work out five times. "I love doing intervals, like running and sprinting, and I see great results with that versus the 30 to 45 minutes of steady cardio I used to do on the treadmill," she told Shape.
Eva maintains that cleaning is part of her self-care routine. "It's always been part of my thing because for me, a clean house equals mental wellness. I just knew growing up in a really tiny apartment with very little, when my mom would clean on the weekends, and she'd wake me up with Cuban music and the house smelled so good, I just felt happier. We all did. We all did, even though it was tiny. We were just all like, 'Oh, this feels so nice.; And then when it became a mess again, it reflected that things were hard. It was symbolic of how we were doing as a family visually. So for me, cleaning equals mental wellness," she explained to Byrdie.
While Mendes does enjoy coffee (with coconut oil or sugar) with breakfast, she hydrates throughout the day and takes fish oil supplements. "I start to get sallow if I'm not eating well," she told Shape.
"I know most people are like, 'Oh a bath.' I used to love baths that like, I don't know. Now, I'm really into super hot showers and ending them with 15 seconds of freezing cold. [Podcaster Wim Hof] 'the Iceman' and everybody talks about how good cold plunges are for you. I haven't been ready for a cold plunge yet, but I've heard him on some podcasts and he said to start getting yourself ready, just do it in the shower. I haven't been able to move on from my 15 seconds, but there's something about it that I really love," Eva told Byrdie.
