Ed Sheeran's '' Sells More Than 1 Million Copies In The UK

Ed Sheeran’s new album ‘÷’ has sold over 1 million copies in the UK in less than 3 weeks,

According to Billboard, Sheeran’s third studio album has combined sales (physical, digital and streaming equivalent) of 1.07 million.

‘÷’, currently at number 1 in the UK, is now certified triple platinum, just 16 days after its release.

The good news doesn’t stop there for Ed, as the midweek charts predict the album is set for it’s third week at number.

Over on the singles chart Sheeran is set to occupy the top 3 positions.

With ‘÷”s lead single ‘Shape Of You’ certain to be No. 1 for an 11th week, ‘Galway Girl’ at No. 2 and ‘Castle On The Hill’ at No. 3.

Upon its release ‘÷’ broke several chart records.

The album sold 672, 000 copies in it’s first week, making it the highest opening week for a male artist in UK history.

Ed also became the first artist ever to have 16 songs in the UK Singles Chart top 20.

Speaking BBC Radio 1’s Greg James, Sheeran said “I never expected to have nine songs in the top 10 ever in my life.”

“So yeah, I don’t know, something’s gone wrong. But I’m definitely very, very happy about it.”

‘÷’ is now the third fastest-seller of all-time, behind Adele’s ’25’ (800,000) and Oasis’ ‘Be Here Now’ (696,000).
