The actress, who once struggled with her weight, said she is mindful of her food intake. "I don't restrict myself. I just try as much as possible to eat the right food in the right amount," she told Inquirer.net. "You get more nutrients from eating a variety of foods," dietitian Julia Zumpano, RD, LD, tells the Cleveland Clinic, which says she "notes that a good rule of thumb is trying to eat a food of 'each color of the rainbow. These tend to have similar nutrient properties.' For example, foods rich in vitamin C are yellow, orange and red." "Who wants to eat the same foods every day? That's so boring, right?" Zumpano says. "And when you're bored, that's when your diet goes by the wayside."

In an interview with Pep she revealed that her lifestyle is incredibly busy and was responsible for her weight loss. "Maybe that was one way why I lost weight. Because, almost every day I have a taping. If I'm not taping, I'm shooting for an endorsement or I have a hosting job at an event. So sometimes, we don't get to eat on time," she said.

She might not have time to eat, but Carla certainly makes time to exercise. "I'm into circuit training since last year," she told Pep. "It was difficult at first, because we are not really used to working out. It turns out to be an intense and high-intensity workout that will really make you sweat."

After losing all the excess weight, Carla is focused on maintenance. "Now I'm in my right size and weight, and I want to maintain this," she told Pep. "I'm more careful now with what I eat, and I'm for healthy living." "Focus on food groups that are packed with nutrition, such as beans or vegetables," says dietitian Julia Zumpano, RD, LD to the Cleveland Clinic. "Variety is key. For instance, don't limit yourself to eating the same few veggies; instead, challenge yourself to choose a different vegetable every day. You don't want to eat the same specific foods every day."

Carla enlisted the help of experts when she wanted to lose weight. "So I followed all the advice of my doctors. I changed my medications, changed my diet, increased my workouts, did fasting and an elimination diet. Thankfully the drugs worked, it's like maintenance medicine. And thank God, I also lost 26 pounds," she told Pep.
