Backstreet Boys Album Coming In 2016

June 2024 · 3 minute read

Oh my god, they’re back again.

Before there was One Direction, the Jonas Brothers, and Big Time Rush, the Backstreet Boys were the ones taking the world by storm. In their heyday, there was no social media, no hashtag campaigns, no reality shows for singers to find superstardom. Despite all of that, and after nearly 23 years, they remain the best selling boy band of all time, with 300 million (and counting) records sold.

And, according to Nick Carter, they’re not going anywhere anytime soon.

2015 was a great year to be a Backstreet Boys fan. The first BSB movie, titled Show Em What You’re Made Of, premiered in January (and then again in March on VH1). Not too long after, they announced that they would be going on a European cruise in 2016. They pleased the fans once again in July when members Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, and AJ McLean appeared at Comic-Con to announce the news that Nick would be directing a movie he had written, titled Dead 7, which would star numerous boy banders who were popular in the earlier part of this century. Nick and his wife continued the good news streak in early November, when they announced that they were expecting a baby boy on a live episode of Dancing With The Stars, on which Nick became the runner up. There was even a surprise Backstreet Boys performance at the Balmain/H&M fashion show not too long ago.

So what better way to end the year than by the record breaking group announcing that they were working on their next album?

That’s exactly what the Backstreet Boys did. Their official Twitter account kicked it off by posting a picture outside of a studio, with the caption “So it begins…”. AJ, Howie, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell soon followed the band account’s lead with pictures of their own, both inside the studio and out. Fans were even teased with a snippet of  Kevin Richardson singing some of the new material.

Not much has been revealed about the album yet, but there has been a bit of speculation on whether Nick, who recently released his third album entitled All American, will be joining his band mates on the new album or not. He hasn’t been seen in any of the pictures at the studio, nor has he mentioned anything about the album. It’s a little too soon to tell if he’s going to be on this album or not, but with the busy year he’s had, it’s probably not worth stirring up the rumor mill. If there’s any problem or issue with the group, then they will let their fans know as they’ve done in the past.

Here’s to 2016, Backstreet Boys!
