6 Reasons Why Little Mix's Jade Thirlwall Should Guest Judge On 'RuPaul's Drag Race'

June 2024 · 3 minute read

Little Mix are no strangers to RuPaul’s Drag Race, especially member Jade Thirlwall. There’s been a handy amount of musical guest stars in past seasons such as Todrick Hall, Adam Lambert, Martha Wash, etc, but what about someone from a huge current girl group?

We’re counting down 6 reasons why Miss Thirlwall of Little Mix is the perfect guest judge candidate for the next and/or near future season of RuPaul’s Drag Race!

6. “I think if I were a gay man, I’d totally be a drag queen”

Yep, this is an official statement from yours truly. In an interview with the Gay Times, Thirlwall declared not only her obsession with ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ but righteously and proudly declared that if she were a gay man, she’d be a drag queen in an instant. But who’s not to say she can’t do drag anyway?

5. She’s helped raise funds to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS

When asked about West End Bares in England (a burlesque and tease show created to raise funds and awareness for the MAD Trust in the fight to end HIV and AIDS), the singer replied that the show was a “fun way of giving money to something really worthy”.

4. Ended a homophobe by calling them out via social media

After putting on her Instagram her #WCW aka Women Crush Wednesday picture of RuPaul, a supposed “fan” left a comment stating “I don’t [know whether] it’s a boy or a girl but Jade how can you support these kind of things? That’s stupid. Not normal at all”. Thirlwall quickly came on the defense and replied:

How can I support other beautiful people? Quite easily actually. If you don’t ‘support’ these kind of ‘things’ (assuming you mean drag queens or the gay community) then I suggest you go and comment on somebody else’s Instagram. Someone just as homophobic, ignorant and as warped as yourself. Sashay. Away.

3. Always addresses ‘Secret Love Song pt. II’ as a special song for their LGBTQ+ fans.

In almost every performance of ‘Secret Love Song pt. II’, Thirlwall always makes sure to thank LGBTQ+ fans for their support over the years. In a recent performance, she addressed the transgender community in response to Trump’s military ban.

2. She goes out to show her fellow support for Drag Queens all the time

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a music video is probably worth twice as more. In Little Mix’s recent video for ‘Power’, the triple AAA girls were featured with Jade in a rainbow-stomping scene of fierce quality. If you haven’t seen it, we highly recommend it.

1. RuPaul is her Idol

Along with her number one idol Diana Ross, RuPaul is second to Diana. It’s great to know that she finds an idol in RuPaul and that she embraces and accepts the gay culture. In an interview with Attitude magazine, Thirlwall said the following about RuPaul:

She’s just an incredible inspiration, her book has given me a lot of confidence and life lessons. RuPaul Andre Charles changed the game and in my opinion is one of the best icons for the gay community, as well as a role model in knowing your craft and making it huge.
